With Matt Millen running the show, anything is possible. Calvin Johnson, JaMarcus Russell, Brady Quinn, Gaines Adams, and Joe Thomas have all been mentioned as possible choices for the #2 pick. The Dre' Bly trade solidified the OT positions, so there's not an overwhelming need for Thomas. Although it would be hard to screw up Calvin Johnson, the Lions have screwed up a many of 1st round pick receivers, with the Jacksonville Jaguars a close second. Gaines Adams is an excellent pass rusher, but not worthy of the #2 pick. Best case scenario for the Lions is that the Raiders will be so overwhelmed by the talent & upside of Calvin Johnson that they draft him and the Lions end up with JaMarcus Russell. He'd be a much better fit for Mike Martz offense than Brady Quinn.

If the Lions take another WR early in the 1st Round, Matt Millen should start packing his bags.
Even though Calvin Johnson is the best player in the draft the Lions do have more glaring needs. I predict they will trade down a bit and acquire more picks.

It would be fitting if the Lions didn't take Calvin!!
Just wondering how they will screw this draft up? If Calvin is still there with the 2nd pick and no one trades up with the Lions, then the Lions should take Calvin Johnson because soooo many people are high on him.
And drafting 2 good receivers out of 4 isn't bad.
Restore the ROAR, Superbowl here we come!....sometime in the future.............I mean, the Lions can't continue to suck forever can they........eventually things have to turn around.

Both those teams need all the help they can get! I wouldn't want the Lions to take CJ because the only good reciever they drafted was Roy Williams who'll probably bounce once he becomes a free agent. Charles Rogers was cut, he was 5th overall. Mike Williams is so-so & might get cut, 10th overall. That team needs to fire Matt Millen already! As far as the Raiders go, since they didn't pursue Joey Harrington or David Carr my thoughts tell me they'll draft Russell & rebuild the offense around him from the bottom up.

Without a doubt Johnson should be the #1 pick in the draft. I dont think the Lions will take him though. They would probably trade down with Tampa Bay and still get a player they really need. I look for them to take Joe Thomas.

Lions want to trade down and they are in the best spot for a swap. Tampa Bay wants CJ bad. Hopefully the Lions have learned their lesson. Many mock drafts have Detriot taking Quinn though.

If the Lions did draft Johnson it would be only to trade him for something they really needed.
Depending on how beat up Kevin Jones is they might have to take Peterson.

If Russell is gone I think Detroit should trade down and get a 1st and 2nd round pick, which will give them 3 picks in the 2 rounds. They don't need another WR no matter how good he is that's not the teams needed area were they need to improve ........They're going to need a QB, RB and some Defense.....!!!!!!

I don't know who they would take but I do know as long as they keep drafting the college heroes instead of a well rounded player that fits in their system they will be forever in a "rebuilding year". I agree that a lineman would be a wise choice and Joe Thomas seems to be the best of that crop.
