The first digit tells if you are being tracked for medical research..... second digit is the tracking division........

there is this thing called social security. when you work you put in a certain amount depending on how many hours and how much money you make per hour. after you work for a long time, once you become 65 you can retire and draw that money. the first 3 digits tell you what state you were residing in when your mom signed your social security card.

It means you have been numbered for life. Our parents made big mistakes by geting SS#. My Niece doesn't have one and hopefully she never will. When the time comes she can get a tax ID #.
