I've heard and seen a lot of evidence that global warming is not a hoax, and yet there is also a lot of evidence and argument against its authenticity. What do you think? Name sources if possible.

It is not a hoax, it is genuine. Watch "An Inconvenient Truth" or better yet, find the book somewhere... then you can read and reference all of the sources he uses. It is frightening.

Regardless what you think about Al Gore... the facts he states are incontrovertible.

Global warming is a truly and exact hazard. That is an absolute reality. The most effective factor that's nonetheless up within the air is whether or not or now not people have something in any respect to do with this. Most most probably we do have an end result. The factor that I discover hilarious is that almost all persons that dispute international warming have without doubt no clue what they are speaking approximately. They deliver up their possess regional climate ("It's snowing in April in Montana!!!"... That's the dumbest argument in opposition to international warming I've ever heard incidentally -- Montana SHOULD have snow in April), deliver up lengthy debunked theories ("what approximately the 'international cooling' scare within the 70's?"), or they make absurd arguments approximately what would be inflicting the planet to get hotter ("It's the solar's fault", "It's volcanoes", "Heat from the internal-earth is warming the sea") at the same time whilst seeking to say that the planet is not honestly getting hotter. There is such a lot stupidity within the anti-international warming camp that it is sickening. That being stated -- there are idiots in each camps. Many persons get the affect that international warming goes to "spoil the planet". That's absurd... the planet goes to be right here it doesn't matter what. WE'RE those which can be f***ed. There's additionally the tremendous quantity of persons that mistakenly hyperlink the ozone gap to international warming -- the 2 problems are approximately as unrelated as you'll get in relation to atmospheric phenomena. There's the persons that endorse that international warming will motive a brand new ice age -- absurd. Yes, international warming COULD close down the gulf movement, and make EUROPE cooler - however it is going to now not motive Europe to be included in a glacier... and final I checked Europe isn't the complete planet. There's the persons that suppose international warming will occur at an absurdly rapid price ("In two decades New York City will probably be below water!")... the alterations will probably be foremost, however they're going to take location over many many many years - the planet may not be enormously exclusive by the point we're all useless (with the only foremost exception being the quantity of sea ice within the Arctic). I have performed tons of study in this matter, and I discover it infuriating to hear the stupidity on either side.

A HOAX! This whole theory was designed to bring more control over corporations and also to bring money to big bankers. By making up this lie America and the EU can organize a group effort in bringing condemnation to countries that don't follow their regulations and blame them for all sorts of problems. It is also a way to bring fear to the masses sort of like terrorism. Governments play on the fear of their people to keep them in step so that they will do anything in the name of "survival". The reason for the warm up is not because of pollution. If that were the case our planet would have not survived. The eruption of Mt. St. Helens in 1980 dumped more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than all that has been released since the industrial revolution. We know from history that there are less eruptions now then at other times past. The real reason is that the sun does not keep a constant temperature, also there is an increasing amount of sunspots occurring which is being ignored by the media but is being reported by many scientists only to be squelched.

I don't know that it is a hoax, but it is far from a substantiated threat. I think we are in closer peril of a Nuclear Winter than the effects of Global Warming.
During the medieval warm period, the earth was warmer than it is now. Then there was a cooling period during which glaciers encroached upon farmland. Very upsetting at the time.
Why do you think Greenland was named Greenland? It was green when it was discovered, that's why.Not anymore.

It's not hoax. Almost all, including conservative people like Gingrich, Bill O'Reily...etc they all acknowledge it is real. But there are lot of debates on intensity of global warming and specific effects of global warming.

It's well out of mainstream to say it's hoax. It's typical people point to nature's contribution to global warming, but the conern is about human contribution that can farther aggrevate nature's contribution.

Let me give you an analogy.

Let say you're driving on highway. And somebody put a blow torch next to your car's engine. Your engine over heats.
Do you remove the blow torch? OR
Do you turn off the car engine?

They're both contributing to heating of your engine, but which makes more sense?

So, there are ton of other factors that heat up the planet. But humans are making it worse than it normally would be. Like that blow torch that overheats car's engine. And humans aren't idiots. We can engineer ways around carbon emissions.

I think global warming is valid, however how do we know for sure that human activity is the SOLE cause of it? It could be a cycle that the earth goes through every several thousand years because of solar flares, or magnetic forces, etc...Most of me feels it is not a hoax, but it is far from a substantiated impending doom threat. We should be worried about destroying ourselves with nuclear technology and illicit drugs and hidden drugs that are legally put into our food supply (sucralose, aspartame) before we worry about the sun burning us to death

But you have to wonder:

How else is Al Gore going to make more millions and get to walk on the red carpet in Hollywood, CA, U.S.A, and claim that you have to conserve energy while he heats his colonial mansions that are the total of 30 average size homes and takes his private jets from state to state?

How else are they going to get you to buy a cramped and UGLY Toyota Prius?

How else are they going to convince you to buy front loading clothes washers instead of conventional top loading clothes washers even though the front loading and new fangled top loading types cost three times as much and have proven to be maintenance nightmares?

At the same time, I don't think we as a global society should be using destructive sources of energy regardless of the planet cooling or warming, simply for our better health and well being.

I don't keep up with everything that's going on, but when I see on TV chunks of icebergs breaking off, and unusually crazy weather lately (unlike when I was growing up) I don't think these are hoaxes. A long time ago it seemed everything was almost predictable: tornados in TX, hurricanes on the coast, earthquakes in CA, and snowstorms in the Northeast. Now it seems anything can happen anywhere, and it is. I'm pretty sure it could be true that if the atmosphere changes that the weather would change too. If you find the answer, let us know.

I've been researching global warming and alternate energy sources all semester for a public policy class. There's enough scientific evidence backing up global warming to make me believe it is fact. I am tired of hearing about it everywhere seeing as how it is the "new" thing...

I've heard that many scientists are coming out and saying that it can't be proven, and that the CO2 levels in the atmosphere aren't actually as extremely high as most people think.
Did they ever consider that plants breathe CO2 in and oxygen out?

global warming is a real threat
at least if many people like you awaken to this threat then we can stop it.please keep it going.there is definite proof that there is global warming.come to India and you will know.the ice caps from the Himalayas are melting at a very fast rate.have the seen the graphical representation that the scientists made?this could lead to increase in earth's temperature leading to melting of ice caps leading to flooding of low lying areas leading to heavy loss in human population.
