Many other Western countries have better social benefits in terms of free health care and more monthly income. Having said that, Japan would be a great place to be a senior citizen- your children bring you into their home once you are unable to live on your own, so you are constantly surrounded by family. Nursing homes are quite rare there as the elderly are considered worthy of much respect.
To be fair to the US though, we have the best disabled access of any country in the world. If you happen to be a senior citizen in a wheel chair, it is much easier to get around the US (ramps, wide doors, elevators, etc.) than most other places.

I think Sweden is generally accepted to have the best social assistance system. But aside from material concerns I'd say any country where a culture exists the elders are revered and kept with the family to the end. In the US people generally can't be bothered with caring for the elderly. We have to have such a high standard of living that the elderly must be warehoused and deprived of their families' company and care in the end. It is one of the more disgusting aspects of American society. Children can benefit from wisdom and perspective of their elders if they were only given more of a chance. Some people have it right but most just file them away and visit once in awhile.
