I would return it because they may really need the money and at any rate its not mine.

It depends on whether I liked or disliked the person. If I found a wallet with $50 in it and I knew it belonged to someone that insulted me
I would keep the money and return the wallet. If it
belonged to someone who didn't ever insult me then I would return the money and the wallet! The way I see it if an insulter causes me trouble he or she deserves to lose the money! Someone that doesn't cause trouble doesn't deserve to lose his or her money! Just morally simple as I see it! Whether U agree with my morals or not it don't matter! Oh by the way I lost $20 today there was a hole in my waist bag.. Someone did insult me and then said thanks for paying for my Subs! Whether that someone was actually talking to me or someone else I don't know but didn't see anyone else around! and I was walking past the Subway Restaurant at the time today! Actually the insult was a question: What's he g a y for?

Yes, I'd return it.
I would hate to think this was that person's last $50 for food until the paycheck came, and I kept it. or it was for prescription meds for an old person or baby!
$50 on the street is finders keepers, (I'd still feel badly and ask people directly around me if they lost it) but if it's a wallet with a legit identifcation card/address or contact info, I'm gonna go out of my way to return it to police, security office in a mall or grocery, or the individual if possible. I think if it's identifiable property it belongs to him/her, and what they do with that $50 is not for me to judge.
I would be NO sort of role-model at sunday school in my church if I did anything less than what I just said!

I will return it to the owner. if thre is no ID or any information inside the wallet i try to go to the security office like for example i am at school and found a wallet on the room then ill go to security office to report it. then the security office will post a note on school who is the owner of that. thre is kind of investigation also when someone claim it to the office. for me, even how big the money in the wallet, or any expensive stuff i will alwez return it to the owner or report it because i dont want that make happen to me when i lost a thing. just put urself in the side of the person who lost something like a wallet with $50. they feel lonely, sad, cry, uncomfortable, worry and feel paranoid.. thre is a saying, treat people good as u want people treat u good too. it is like that.
money, materials cant make me happy but the true happiness for me is simply when i see or make people smile, happy and laugh then im totally happy on that. i dont want to ask for any return.

Yes. I would return it, including the money. We used to live in some condos behind this one bar/lounge and found them all the time in the parking lot. It became habit for us to show up at the police department on Mondays. And they say what goes around comes around, and I truly believe that. One time I lost my wallet during Christmas and someone turned it in, including the money I had in it. It's always the right thing to do no matter how down and out you are.

I admire your honesty, but geez, you do need to use some discretion! Get counseling on the family thing as you are part of the family and maybe next! To answer returning the wallet, absolutely. The benefit outweighs the gain.

My son found a wallet ,with that exactly amount you mention $50.00 bill .
for some reason he told me ,he found it that day in the gym ,but he tossed the wallet ,and was going to keep the money .
next day i drove him to school made him ,hand the money to the principal ,and tell the story .
3 yrs later graduation day ,with his diploma was stuck inside the same $50.00 bill ,nobody ever claimed the money .
until today ,6 yrs later my other son and daughter ear the story all the time ,how honesty paid .
i also believe good raising ,it starts from home .

if i know who it belongs to or have an idea then yes but if not it really depends if I found it in a store then you take it to the lost and found if you find it in the middle of the street where do you go from there, people are inherently dishonest and the first door you knocked on and said "is this your 50$?" would lie and say yes.BUT if they have an ID with an address on it, then you put it in an envelope and mail it to that address.

I'd try my best to return it. I've had to do that many times when people leave their purse or drop their wallet at the restaurant. Even on the street I would turn it in to the store or the police. I just can't steal.
