I highly doubt Saddam is alive. His body was shown on the news for a while after his execution.

A "Ditective"? I'm pretty certain that there was enough media coverage of his hanging to safely say that the man is in fact dead.

Now do you see why it was important for the execution to be witnessed by the whole world? Putting the video on the internet was not mere sadism. It was necessary.
