The only thing necessary is a carb gasket under the carb.

I don't believe it is necessary as long as the bores match up. If the bores don't match, you will need a spacer to channel the flow correctly to the intake. Factory installed carbs never came with a generic spacer, only a gasket. The more things that get bolted between 2 surfaces, the more chance of leaks and turbulence.

i own a shop and its really not necessary with the edelbrock system,i have one of their set ups,and I'm not running a spacer, and it runs really well as long as the intake gets a good flow of coolant through it your fine,i needed a spacer for the breather ,but not on the bottom of the carb,my breather was too big,and hitting the plug wires on the cap,but you,ll be alright with what you have ,good luck i hope this helps.

no. That is something that is suppose to give you a little more HP. It is not necessary to have one or Vic Edelbrock would have had one on there.
