I heard the egg is only fertile one day after it i released.

Technically, yes. But, you also have to take into account that sperm can live for up to a week inside a woman's reproductive tract. So even if you have unprotected sex a week before a woman ovulates, she can still get pregnant.

Hardly. It's got a few day's life to it.

As do sperm, which will live for a few days in the woman's reproductive tract.

And no woman can ever be certain when she's ovulating. That's why it's always important to use some method of contraception, unless you are trying to conceive.

However, most types of contraception don't protect against STI's. Only condoms can do anything to help with that.

There is also no single or combined method of contraception that is 100% effective.

Sperms are alive for few weeks within the ovary. Egg has shorter life spans of 3/4 days.

Eggs live for 24 hours. Sperm live for 5-7 days.

I believe so b/c I think it can take 5 days or so for the sperm to reach the egg & form a zygote. I'm not 100% sure; look up for info girl don't listen to me lol.
