i have a toshiba sattelite laptop but for some reason the screen doesn't work anymore. i've only had it for a year and a half and hardly ever use it. i've taken it to several places to try to get it fixed, but everywhere i go they all tell me i might as well get a new laptop. one guy told me that the backlight of the screen went out. i don't know what to do....

if the backlights went out, the entire screen wil have to be replaced. if you have even had to replace a phone screen you will know that the cost is sometimes more expensive than the initial cost of the phone. it is probably the same with the laptop. in this case, you can probably get a brand new laptop for the cost of fixing that screen, especially if it is an olde model and parts are relatively scarce.

A new screen cost around 500, depending on the speed of the computer it would be better to get a new one. . .if you need stuff off of your hard drive hook up an external monitor, it will have a vga on the back. . .next sell your toshiba on e-bay or look for a new screen on e-bay chances are you will find a screen or at last get 150 out of your old machine. Good luck

Get a new laptop and recycle that one in a ec-friendly facility. That's the cheapest and smartest thing to do.

try calling up the manufacturer and seeing what they say and if you had already done that, only if its less expensive see if you can get the back light looked at to see if that is the real problem.
