First of all don't freak out (just in case you did). I wouldn't recommend getting tampons at first as you may not bleed in regular amounts. Many females have scarce periods in the first months of getting their periods. Getting tampons may not be the best thing to do as the vagina may get irritated and it may be a bit painful inserting/taking out the tampon because the tampon isn't fully soaked.

Just because you are petite and a virgin doesn't mean that you are naturally really tight. Some girls are so tight, they can't even get tampons in, and are still tight for the rest of their lives. Some girls are not that tight, and never had a problem putting the tampon in the first place. So, you won't know till you try.
Really, people can give you all kind of advise, but the best thing is to try all kinds of things, combinations etc...and see what you like best.
You'll also discover how heavy, how many days, what your heavy days are...and then...it all changes as the hormones in your body change, which they do, several times in your life.
Fun, fun fun!!!
:)

Congratulations.
As with many other things in life, trial and error will have to be your guide on this one. Don't be afraid of them, and you'll be just fine. But do keep to the regular or even the junior size for now. Stay away from the super's.
Some people have talked about being tight. Really, there is no such thing, not without signalling a major problem. This problem, however, is not a physical one, but it has major physical symptoms and it portends huge problems for you a few years from now. There is help, though. I'm giving you a few links about things that you need know, and this is covered in one of them.
Now, I want to remind you that contrary to one opinion that was posted, you cannot lose your virginity by using tampons. It's simply not possible. That's because the presence or absence of a hymen has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with virginity or the lack thereof. How can it when some girls are born without a hymen? How can a newborn baby girl be a non-virgin? For the record, a woman loses her virginity when she first engages in vaginal intercourse. There is no other way to lose your virginity.
One thing to remember is that your body has to adjust to this new role. It can take a few years to do that, and until it does, your cycle will almost certainly be irregular. Just keep track of it on any calendar, and you'll be able to figure out for yourself when it has become somewhat regular. Yes, somewhat, as very few women are naturally as regular as clockwork.
Now, do yourself a favour and talk with your mother or with any other older female relative. They've all been there and they will also want to celebrate your new status with you.

All brands make tampons for younger, petite girls. Depends on if you want a cardboard applicator (Tampax) which you can flush, or a plastic one (Playtex) that you can't. Go down to the drug store with your mom and just look. Compare them and see what will be best for you. And don't be embarassed. I remember when I first started my period and it was so embarassing getting feminine products. But don't be.. half the world's population is going through the same thing you are. :)

Buy a small box of any brand. It will take a little time to get familiar and comfortable with inserting them. The fact that you are petite doesn't really matter. They are all pretty much the same diameter except for the super sized ones. Good luck.

I had a hard time with tampons when I first started. I always use Tampax pearl. They come in all sizes I believe, including juniors. Also, I know this might sound a little wierd, but if you have trouble getting them in use a little KY or vasaline or something. Good luck :)

Don't worry about losing your virginity! That's nonsense. Get the smallest size and relax! Take a deep breath or two before you do it to relax the muscle it needs to get past. That muscle holds it in place. When removing it breathe and relax so it will come out easily. Sometimes you will need to pull in a slightly different direction to get it out smoothly. Breathing is key. If you tense up the muscle will tighten up and it could hurt a little.

I feel you are asking if this interval goes to be shorter - it's feasible, whether or not it is going to finish by way of Saturday is simply anything you'll be able to have got to wait and spot, however it's feasible. You can cross swimming for your interval, simply use interior sanitary merchandise; - Tampons. - Soft tampons. - Cloth tampons. - Sponges. - Softcups. - Diaphragms. - Menstrual cups.
