If the legal system were fair, then yes, she should face some kind of consequences. To begin with, she filed a false police report. Then she perjured herself. Will it happen? Not likely. At this point the DA's office and the entire legal system in NC probably wants to see this go away. They probably agreed with a lot of people about these privileged Duke kids and thought they had probably done something wrong in the past so they were getting what was coming to them over this mess instead. The media showing the affluent homes/neighborhoods and detailing the parents' professions didn't help the cause any. It was no longer a matter of whether the guys were innocent or not of a crime--they were guilty of being rich and arrogant. A lot has been said about the resentment in that city regarding race and financial prosperity. I think it extends throughout the entire country. Some people see the privileged in our own high schools and colleges seemingly getting all the breaks and had a little perverse satisfaction seeing it happen to other "rich" kids.
Unless she is charged there is no way she can be made to do community service or anything like that. The only recourse for punishment would be for the Duke players to file a civil suit against her and we all know that would be a waste of money since she's an acknowledged prostitute and has no savings.

There are consequences for lying in court. It's called perjury. She also wasted taxpayer money getting this BS case tied up in court. She should be sued for the first offense alone. The humiliation of being exposed as a lying whoring seadonkey to the entire country should be enough punishment for the second.

The dancer/ alleged sufferer to my expertise has no longer been charged interior the incedent, yet i've got self assurance she has been tagged with different dissimilar expenditures. The DA Nifong has been disbarred, and has stepped down from his interest. the two are skill aims of a civil case, yet Nifong via some distance may be the main doable

It was combination of her mental illness and also another potential public out cry that might follow if she is prosecuted. She was taking number of prescription drugs at the time and known to have history of mental problems. Prosecution was just stupid. But yea what she did was illegal. Pretty ironic. People just wanted to end this mess and get it over with.
If she is prosecuted there will be whole another public outcry about putting mental patient in jail, race, etc. Prosecution just said 'screw it. We don't want all that crap.'

Yes, definitely. I mean, you can get in trouble for pulling a fire alarm when you know there's no fire, why shouldn't there be consequences for making a false accusation that results in ruined lives and costs taxpayers and these men's families thousands of dollars? Let her pay restitution.

On no, she needs to be charged, because what she did was one of the worse types of crimes out there. Accusing innocent men of rape, she probably ruined their lives!

She should be held accountable for the lies. Make her pay restitution to the players and all costs involved in the case.

No...but she also should never have been believed because of her past history, mental state, etc. She was "used"....and there was a racial political agenda involved....and many are going to be sued because of it.
She evidently is not responsible...but how do we know for sure....they may be trying to avoid a bigger racial problem.
The three men will be suing everyone...but you can't get back your reputation.

She should get some kind of punishment for the suffer she has caused to those kids (even though I dislike them, they seem very cocky and obnoxious), I really hope they can charge her with something, she deserves everything she can get.
