The end of "Remember's" story is that the existing restaurant that the student from Witchita took over had a sign that only had enough room for 8 letters and a space. Pizza was the only menu item so that left space for 3 more letters. I think the owner's mother came up with the word "hut" to describe the little bldg.

It is odd that I would see this email, because I grew up in Wichita Kansas where Pizza Hut started.

I believe the individual that started Pizza Hut was a college student at Wichita State University in the late 50s or early 60s. But that is off the subject. The original Pizza Hut was in a little tiny building about 15' by 15' ---- however it could have been bigger than that but I sure remember it as being really small. It looked like an old English Hut. --

Growing up, I always assumed that the name Pizza Hut came from the combination of the "little building" where pizzas are made, thus Pizza Hut.
