its about a 30 year old hedge. 60- 70 feet long, probably 30 -35 18" clumps of spinney shoots. I was hopeing a chain & pick-up might do the job.

I don't think so-I had 3 small ones < 4 feet high and we could not pull them up. Cut them down and had the roots ground out.

I f your soil is decent I would expect the roots are no picnic to remove. Is it in a location where you can predig it and then get a small machine to lift it? The difficulty would depend how long it has been there.
