OK here is another one that iam having a problem with it is
4(2-5x)=6-3(1-3x) I think you are supposed to multiply 4 and 2 so that means you would get 8-5x=3-3x Is that right? If I am wrong please do tell and please help!!

Here is a question...What are real numbers? doe sit have to do with properties of math?

If I had the problem n+8(n+20)=110 would my answer be 10. this is what i did to get 10:
n+8n+20=110 9n+20=110 9n=110-20 9n=90 9n/9=90/9 so n=10!!

What is y-intercept? How would you solve it?OK this is going to sound pretty stupid but if I had a total of 100 dimes and quarters and the total value of the coins is $14.05, how many quarters do i have?

4(2 - 5x) = 6 -3(1 - 3x) the best thing to do is start working on one side so i suggest that we start on left. So we have to distribute 4 in, we get
8 - 20x = 6 -3(1-3x) well we are done with left side so let's move to the right side. First thing we have to do is distribute the -3 into ( ). We get
8 - 20x = 6 - 3 + 9x Now add like terms to get
8 - 20x = 3 + 9x now add 20x to both sides and subtract 3 from both sides to get
5 = 29x divide by 29
x = 5/29 that is your answer.

Real numbers have to follow properties of math.

n + 8(n + 20) = 110 to solve this distribute the 8 to et
n + 8n + 160 = 110 now add like terms to get
9n + 160 = 110 now subtract 160 from both sides to get
9n = -50 now divide both sides by 9 to get
n = -50/9

Y intercept is where the line crosses the y axis. meaning when x = 0 what is the value of y.

If you have 100 dimes that means you have $10.00
100 * .10 = 10
Now take that and subtract it from $14.05 we get
$14.05 - $10.00 = $4.05
So now we have $4.05 left. How many quaters is this well take $4.05 and divide by .25 which is the value of a quater we get
4.05/.25 = 16.2 but you can't break a quater into a .2 and still use it so you have to round to the lowest number so you have 16 quaters.

if you need further clarification or more help email me or im me. Good Luck.

First off, you've got things only partly right. keep at it though.
In that first problem you have 4(2-5x) = 6 -3(1-3x)
ANYTIME you have a number multiplied by something in parentheses, you HAVE to multiply EVERYTHING that is in the parentheses.
This means you'll have 4 times 2 - 4 times 5x
which comes out to 8 - 20x
Then on the right hand side it's easiest to keep the negative sign with the 3 and think of the whole thing as 6 + -3(1 - 3x)
which gives you 6 + (-3 times 1) + (-3 times -3x)
This comes out to 6+ -3 + 9x
The complete equation would now be 8- 20x = 6 + -3 + 9x
This simplifies to 8- 20x = 3 + 9x
Add 20x to both sides of the equation, then -3 from both sides
Divide both sides by 29 and you should have your answer

Real numbers are all numbers except the 'imaginary' ones. Imaginary numbers are the ones you get when you take the square root of a negative number - they have two parts to them, a 'real' part and another number multiplied by i (which is equal to the square root of -1).

This problem you need to do the same thing you have to do in the first one, that is you MUST multiply EVERYTHING in the parentheses - both terms, before you can solve it properly.

The y-intercept is a term used in graphing. In your case you are probably graphing straight lines. The y-intercept would be the point at which the line would cross the y axis on the graph. If you can rearrange an equation so that you have y=mx+b (that is you get y alone on one side of the equal sign and on the other side of the equation you have combined all your x terms into one and all your totally number terms are added up to one single number, then that single number will be where the line crosses the y axis because when x=o, then y = that number. That point will be your y-intercept.

no it is 8-20x=6-3+3x
the 4 has to be multiplied by everything within the bracket as does -3 thats all.
next bunch all x terms on one side
23x=5
x=5/23
All numbers you deal with are real numbers including root 2,negative numbers,decimals etc whole numbers(0,1,2..) natural numbers(1,2,3...) rational numbers(decimals which terminate or repeat endlessly) irrational numbers(numbers which neither terminate nor repeat endlessly like root2) are all real numbers too!
secondly no answer will not be 10 do it as follows
n+8n+160=110
9n=-50
n=-50/9
To find y intercept just put x=0 in your equation.When a line is plotted on a graph the distance between its intersection with y axis and origin is called y intercept.

A.) an entire of 456 tickets have been bought, so a + s = 456. the quantity of funds created from each and every type of fee tag is its value elevated with the aid of what number have been bought. for this reason, the quantity of funds created from the person tickets by myself is $3.50 * a = 3.5a funds. Likewise, the quantity of funds created from the pupil tickets by myself is $a million * s = s funds. the entire fee tag sales equals $1131, so 3.5a + s = 1131. subsequently, your equipment of equations is: a + s = 456 3.5a + s = 1131 B.) Multiply the 1st equation with the aid of -a million so it truly is -a - s = -456. Now upload this equation to the 2nd equation to unravel for a with the aid of removing s from the ensuing equation: (3.5a + s = 1131) + (-a - s = -456) = (2.5a = 675) 2.5a = 675 (divide the two factors with the aid of 2.5) a = 270 And you could now resolve for s. a + s = 456 (replace 270 for a) 270 + s = 456 (subtract 270 from the two factors) s = 186 answer: 270 person tickets and 186 pupil tickets

4(2-5x)=6-3(1-3x)
nope - 4 multiplies to both 2 and 5
and the 3 goes to the 1 and 3 so that

4(2) - 4(5x) = 6 - 3(1) -3(-3x)
8 - 20x = 6 -3 +9x
8-20x = 3 + 9x....sub 3 from both sides
5-20x = 9x...add 20x to both
5 = 29x and u got it from hear ! uh here.. heir??
I height spelcek

best of luck

You must do the equations in the brackets before multiplying the outside numbers.

That equation is wack! well any ways you find y-intercept by using your graph. You have your horizontal line (x) and you got your vertical line (y). The line that is either going negative or positive will cross through x and y. y intercept coordnates look like (0, and then a number) sorry if i confused you.
