I had my male in a bowl where he made a huge nest so I moved him to a small 15L aquarium for breeding. Ive even introduced a female in a bowl and put it beside the tank.
My male keeps making the bubble nest in the aquarium but now the bubbles have all popped. Ive even used a small styrofoam cup and he started building it under that but it doesn't stay together.

I have a small filter and its only on low, it doesnt hardly move the waters surface

Can I add something to the water?
Is my water too hard?

I think my bettas getting frustrated cuz he has stopped building it, the temp is 28 degrees C, the water is conditioned and PH neutral.

Please help!

I would suggest moving the female where he can't see her and that may encourage him to reconstruct his nest. If you have a power filter on the tank, I would also suggest removing that in favor of a small sponge filter. Even a small power filter would suck up a number of the babies once you have a spawn in the tank.

Give him a good water change as well and leave the water level at about 5" deep, that will often encourage a male to build a good nest.

Hope that helps

Firstly remove the filter, i personally feel that your betta won't need it.

The bubble burst probably because the air is too dry, you have to remember that this fishes comes from the equatorial region where humidty is always in the high 90s %, what I do to ensure that the bubble last longer is to use some plastic sheet to cover the tank. But leave a slight gap as you have to remember betta breath air. There should be some condensation on the inside of the glass after awhile, and thats would ensure that the air in the tank is nice and humid.

Hopes this helps.

Its usually caused by both you filter and the water condition.

Betta don't usually required any filter, especially when you are trying to get them mate. The ripple on the water may just kill the bubbles he have created.

Soft blackish water is also better for betta as it help to maintain the bubble-nest w/o bursting.

Hope these infor will help. Best of luck to you!
