Apathy, indifference -- an "I don't care attitude..." This may stem from a feeling of detachment or ennui. The edge of the coin... between love and hate... could also be a sense of balance as to the relationship in question. Then too, if the edge of the coin is grooved, it may portend a feeling of grooviness, not to say ruttedness. And while "ruttedness" may not in fact be a word... (I see the spell checker doesn't care for it)... still it may be, nonetheless, ispo facto. Are you with me on this?

Hate and Infatuation are opposites. Each represents an extreme, a position that only sees the negative (hate) or only the positive (infatuation). Love, true unconditional love, is the synthesis of both. Love is the balanced perception of all the negatives and all the positives and loving that person in his/her totality of good and bad.
So, in your coin analogy, hate sees only one side of the coin, infatuation ("love") sees only the other side of the coin, and unconditional love (true love) is acceptance and appreciation of the ENTIRE coin.

I would say envy, as it can lead to both love and hate.
