It has been my experience that Bettas DO like to have some vegetation to hide in.
Fresh aquatic plants are great and plastic plants will do as well.
Small shells that have an opening for them to hide in or castles etc. might be useful as well!

Yes they do. They like any kinds of hiding spaces. Be careful about the plants though. Bettas have very delicate fins and if the plant has rough surfaces or sharp edges, then it can easily tear a bettas fins.

My betta Marshall lives in what I refer to as the "fishatarium" with rocks on the bottom and a medium sized plastic plant in the corner. Marshall loves his plant; he swims through it, hides in it, and darts through it when he's in attack mode. Don't get one of those vases with the water plants in the top for your betta, though; the plant makes it so the betta can't get to its food and hampers the fish's motions. Plastic plants are easy to keep clean, they don't grow, and they can be moved around the fish tank very easily, so they're the way to go.

Sure! Either artificial or live, a betta will like the comfort of the hiding place when he wants it.

They love plants, and don't eat them! Also, if you have surface plants, your bettas will breed - which is a problem as you will have several males, and nowhere to put them (remember only one male per tank).

They sure do. Just remember not to fill the tank or whatever you're keeping him in all the way up. If you have him in one of those vases, be sure to leave the water about 2 inches from the top, this let's the fish have fresher air a little longer. If it's in a tank, then just fill it to the fill line, and let the plant you get float, or if you can have more than one, let one float and one at the bottom. Have fun.

yes, as others have said. just be sure if it's a floating plant that you keep it trimmed enough so the betta can get to the surface. also plastic plants can tear their fins so silk is better.

most of the flora on the puppy shops are domicile flora and could no longer stay underwater. Dracena is one that is pushed in numerous varieties, yet none of them can proceed to exist long submerged. a real aquatic they have there is swordplant, even even though it calls for too plenty gentle and gets too enormous for a reasonably lit betta tank. Anacharis is decrease priced, yet calls for best gentle ranges. Java fern, in the event that they have it, may be the only to get, fairly between the cultivars with frilly leaves. they have long enduring leaves, and don't choose for incredible gentle, and could tolerate tricky water or maybe slightly salt. African water fern, Bolbitus heudeloti, has comparable features, yet may be even harder to discover at a typical puppy save. the two a style of ferns good the checklist through fact they're uncomplicated to maintain, do no longer require specific lights, tolerate a sort of temperatures and water from comfortable to tricky. through fact they're relatively uncomplicated to strengthen, you do no longer see them oftentimes in puppy shops. Too many hobbyists have them and commerce them or sell them at aquarium club auctions. Java moss, Christmas moss, and different aquatric mosses are even extra convenient if obtainable, however the fish golf equipment are with regard to the only place to get them. there's a calendar of fish club auctions and convention/exhibits appropriate decrease than. in line with risk a style of upcoming activities is close to you.
