I actually gave him a little something.
We were good friends for a while before we started going out. He loved me the whole time we were friends and would always be so nice to me. We would leave each other messages on a website. What I did for our 6 months was print out everything we wrote to each other. It's just something cute to look back on. I also made him a CD of all our songs. He said that night, he read all of it and listened to the whole CD. The next day, he was so affectionate and adorable.
I only did this because we are very serious and this is my first long term relationship. We've been together for 14 months now. We plan on getting married someday and he means the world to me. ♥
People don't usually celebrate "halfiversaries" though. Gifts aren't required. The real anniversaries are what people celebrate.

If you love each other you will relish the chance to give each other gifts. Are you both excited about the date coming up? Do you mention it to each other? If yes then you can be pretty sure that he will get you something - enjoy getting something for him, too.
Pay attention to what he needs or wants or likes. The best gifts are things that someone wants but would not spend money on for themselves. Chances are in normal conversation he will happen to mention stuff like, "Oh, I always wanted one of those" or "I've been meaning to get such-and-such" or "ooh did you see this cool new thing that came out?" When you pay attention to the little things he says it shows you care.
My BF and I gave each other gifts for our 3 month anniversary. He called it our "first quarter anniversary" (as in financial quarters of the year). Any occasion is worth celebrating.

It's really up to you. We used to wish each other every month for the 1st six months and give each other small little gifts. We're married now and i really miss those days cos they never come back. Now i dont even get a card or a cake on my birthdays or anniversary!

You better talk with him about this- guys can get really freaky when girls start treating any milestone as an anniversary. This suddenly makes the guy think you are very serious- you could freak him out.

first off, six months IS a half of a year.
second, it depends on how old you are.
third, if you are young, get him a Harley!
and if you are old, well get him a Harley anyway!
