Check out journalist Edward R Murrow, George Clooney directed an excellent movie, Goodnight and Good Luck, about how Murrow and his staff exposed McCarthy's ruthless tactics during the McCarthy witchhunts, which led to the Senate censure of McCarthy:

Check out the Internat'l Women's Media Foundation. The 2006 Courage Award went to Jill Carroll, 28, a freelance reporter working for The Christian Science Monitor. Carroll was abducted January 7, 2007 in Iraq after she was attacked along with a driver and an interpreter. Her interpreter, Alan Enwiya, was killed. Carroll was released March 30 after 82 days in captivity and returned to the U.S. on April 2: http://www.iwmf.org/courage/
Here's an article by Media Matters about the journalists that have been killed in Iraq (it was 71 in June, 2006 which was the same number that had been killed during the entire Vietnam War). Conservatives were accusing the journalists of only reporting "bad news" since they weren't leaving the fortified compounds (McCain just had about 200 troops protecting him when he went to an Iraqi market recently to prove how "safe" it was): http://mediamatters.org/items/200606020001
Lots of journalists are literally dying to get the news-yet how much of it gets printed or televised?
Good luck!

The mass media in the United States consists of a bunch of wimpy editors who refuse to take on any story that conflicts with the corporate establishment propaganda.
If you want to see examples of movies or books that present courageous people, I'd suggest:
- Profiles in Courage, Book ghost written for JFK
- V for Vendetta, Movie that parady of 9/11 (If you look at it right)
- New Rule, HBO DVD of Bill Haher
- "9/11 Truth Movement" Internet Site, Check out Professor Seven Jones couragous reports about the 9/11 twin towers and WTC 7.
- High Noon, An old western movie about a sheriff who is courageous in facing his attackers despite a total lack of support from anyone.
- Rosie O'Donnell who expresses her opinions about 9/11 publically despite ruthless threats against her career.

In Star Wars Luke and the Rebellion go after the Death Star, even though it seems unbeatable. Luke has courage to face his own father, and trust in his belief that Darth Vader still has good within him.
The people of Iraq showed courage, when they ignored death threats to vote. That was reported on the news.
