It doesn't matter if you are a driver or not You cannot i repeat CANNOT take the infant out of the carseat while the vehicle is Moving It is extremely Dangerous!!!! I'm glad you used a little common sense with saying you don't think it's true... Sometimes advice you are given should go in one ear and out the other... Just smile... Be polite and walk away or change the subject... Besides would you want to try and drive and hold an infant toyour breast... Believe me it's hard enough with both hands tending to her lol... :) I can't believe someone would tell you that lol...

Wow, it's really scary to see how many people think that the only thing that matters is that the baby is restrained properly. While I feel that the baby's restraint is the most important, what makes anyone think that the mother being unrestrained is acceptable, laws or no laws? Just think, how much do you weigh? If there's an accident, would you want that much weight unrestrained and bouncing around the car? Your entire body weight has the potential to come crashing down on your properly restrained child in his/her certified and approved safety seat, but an accident will still be most assuredly fatal. How hard is it to just pull over, find a parking lot, and feed your kid? My husband and I were driving once a week to San Antonio, about 4 hours from here, for a medical appointment. That four hour drive took us about six, because we had to keep pulling over to feed and change our then one-month-old son. Being responsible parents, we just planned ahead and figured that time into the travel time. I don't know about the rest of you, but nothing is so important that it can't be put on hold long enough for me to PROPERLY take care of my child.

i would never recommend taking a baby out of his/her car seat to nurse the best way is to pull over. If you are not the driver...However there are instances where it is hard to find a safe place to pull over and you have a screaming hungry baby. I found out real quick how to nurse while my little one is still strapped in. It takes a little maneuvering and a blanket for cover helps. This also works best in a car so you are more level with the car seat. With my second one we had a minivan so this didn't work too well. And now with my third i figured out bringing a couple pillows to kneel on would help a lot.

Though legally wise i think most states have seat belt laws for all passengers so you could get a fine depending on the officer.

It shouldn't matter what the law is. Why (if the car is in motion) would anyone risk that with a baby? Take the time to pull over. But, by law, they have to remain in car seat for their safety. Too bad they can't be protected from stupid parenting.

Your baby must be in the car seat if a car is not parked. The only way you can nurse a baby in a carseat is if you are not buckled in. That is stupidity. Find a parking lot, turn the car off, then unbuckle and nurse the baby.

i think its common sense to pull over and feed a baby , but i can see it time consuming, and know friends that do it all the time on long trips as the baby likes to hear the heart beat it has grow up with for the last 9 months ,so it is very comforting for baby's in that position.it would take a nasty cop to give u a ticket. but if this looks like its going to happen unhook the baby , the cop will get a perv and bub should start screaming on que making the cop feel bad and or irrating him to leave without giving u a ticket lol hope u get a smile on ur face from this cheers

Ok! No, if you are doing the driving, you can't! The baby wouldn't be in the carseat.
I have been in the back with my daughter and leaned over to her. Of course this was when she was rear-facing. It would be pretty difficult otherwise.
I don't think what I did was illegal since I kept on my seatbelt (painfully so, but I kept it on).
By the way, it was a last resort, We were in stopped traffic on a bridge for ocer 2 hours.

you legally can not take the baby out of the car seat. i think as long as adults dont have seat belt laws and someone else is driving the car and you can breastfeed the baby while she is in her car seat....no. too hard!pull the car over and then feed her.

NO! The baby must stay in its restraint 100% of the time!

Do you mean hold or breastfeed when you say nurse? If you need to breastfeed your baby...you stop the car. Or do what my sister does and buckle into the seat next to the restraint and lean over to feed the baby (she has large boobs though!) .
