These gnats are bothersome and I'd like to find out how to get rid of them quick

They are fungus gnats living in the soil. Take the plants to the sink and make up a solution of soapy water like you are washing dishes......then pour it through the soil several times. After 3 of these drenches, follow up with plain water. Of course your houseplants have good drainage holes, right?

This soapy water solution is good for killing insects with soft bodies. You are going after the larvae....so the adults may still be around for a day or two. Be patient. You can repeat this after a few days.

One of two things will work, take time and use a mild soap and water mix and spray all your leaves on your plants, cleanign the leaves. soap kills bugs.
or you can go to any store ..kmart, walmart, lowes and look for a spray to spray on for small insects. make sure its says it won't kill the plant.

i get them too, they are quite annoying. i use a product called gnatrol, it's brown, and smells nasty, but works great. i bought it at a small hydroponics store... but i'm sure you can find it at home and garden stores.
