i can totally understand the points you make about myspace. it's good you have realized that myspace is just a waste of time for you and now you can avoid it and focus on things that will make your life more fullfilling!

My husband and I both have Myspace accounts. We're both over 20 and as long as we stick to our friends we have a great time with it. It's helps keep me up to date on old friends in another state. We post pictures from our holidays and blog about things in our lives. To us its like email, but we can all connect together. Now I agree that if you start "adding friends" who are just random people requesting you, it is like high school all over again. Thats why we just stick to people we actually know. Before I started weeding out the "unknowns" I got a message from someone I didn't even know crying about why they weren't in my top 8. Now that is childish.
Like you said, sometimes when your in school and working, you don't have the time to socialize in other ways. For me it works, I really hope you can find something that works well for you too!

I agree with you. It's just a popularity contest for people to say well I have more friends then you. It's just another reason for people to feel bad about themselves for not being as pretty as the next person or as popular. In some ways it is good though when you leave high school and move onto college it is a way to keep in touch with old friends.

I wouldn't say it's childish but you could certainly be doing better things with your time. Just because someone has say 565 friends doesn't really mean that they are more popular. Thats just how many people they know, and ya know what, they don't talk to half of them. And its not about "feeling pretty" or whatever because it's pics of yourself and your friends and just expressing yourself. You shouldn't compare to others. Yes, myspace is a waste of time. But it isn't childish.

actually its what you make of it..i use it to connect to people i know from all over..i could care less how many friends i have on my page..but in this day and age its nice to be able to leave a little note to brighten someones day..some do use it as a popularity contest..but its "my space" somewhere i didn't have to have a degree in web design to have a page..i think for you..you did answer it ..but for others that see it differently it can be a good thing..

I don't think it is childish...an outlet for some...and entertainment for some...interesting depending on your "friends"or connections..I.Iike the idea of myspace even though I do not wish to take the time to set up one for myself...I'm not that ambitious.

i'm almost 21 and have one. i don't necassirly think its childish but i do agree it's a popularity contest. it kinda depresses me to look at it and see people with hundrerds of friends, even though i bet that person maybe knows like 50 at most of them.

I think whether it is or not is just an opinion. I personally have one to keep in touch with my sister and brother, and to play around with when I'm bored. I wouldn't call it childish unless you only have it to "win the contest".

I even have seen relatively previous human beings use it to maintain in touch with human beings. i do no longer think of that's infantile. that's like the main important social networking internet site so all varieties of folk use it.
