Jacqueline sounds very feminine and grown up. Jackie can be used as a nickname for Jacqueline.

Jacqueline Bissett is an actress.
Jacqueline Kennedy was a former lady.
Jackie Robinson is a baseball player.
Jackie Cooper is/was an actor of the Little Rascals.
An actress said that she did not like Jackie, because the name made her feel like a guy, not a gal. So she wanted her trainer to call her JACKEE (Jac-KAY) instead of that.
Jacqueline is better than Jackie (is unisex), because this full name is so feminine.

WELLLLLLLLLLL... Jackie is short for Jacqueline so have the best of both worlds name her Jacqueline and nickname her Jackie!!! If she is a professional in life she can use the Jacqueline! and for the fun sporty sexy side of her "Jackie".
