everyone is a legend in their own mind.
Perhaps it is not a realistic goal in the way you're thinking, but consider this: with the size of today's population, if you are a legend even in a small subculture, you will be known and remembered by more people than most "legendary" people were in the past. And many legendary figures of the past have been forgotten. Not many people remember eostre even though we named easter after her.
So you may not make any changes that permanently affect humanity. But it is still an admirable goal, and worth trying for, and more power to you for wanting it.
