Have you ever done gym class barefoot in school?

if not, would you do it if you had the option to go without shoes? swimming excepted

I've never done gym class with shoes. Barefoot PE is the norm here in the Netherlands, from grammar school to high school, no footwear of any kind was allowed in the gym. Even when we had forgotten something inside, we had to take our shoes off or ask someone from the next class to get it, we'd get yelled at for even taking two steps shod in there. Outdoors, we had a large, well-maintained grass field and we were free to chose shoes or barefoot. I usually went barefoot there except when it was still chilly in spring or fall.

I didn't think twice of it at the time, even though I wasn't a regular barefooter back in school (now I go barefoot everywhere). But I can't recall ever hearing of anyone in my own class or direct surroundings getting a foot injury in gym class, however minor, and Dutch kids do NOT have a lot of athlete's foot.

specific, specific and we've been compelled. :( the floor grow to be continually grimy and dusty and the gymnasium mats have been continually chilly underfoot. The hall grow to be extensively utilized for lunch too, so we had to stay away from the unusual baked bean - no longer very friendly.

If i had the choice i wouldn't but i was forced to once because i forgot my gym kit! It was horrible luckily it was in the gym and not outside! xx
