Before I expanded our family I was working at a community college teaching medical transcription, medical terminology, computers, typing, ect...and many of the students were single mothers trying to make it on their own. Since then I have run into a few of them (one of the working at my children's doctors office) and I have been thanked many times. I am so glad I helped them.

That is what I am hoping for. I decided to return to school to obtain my teaching certificate. High school English. After working in the corporate world, and currently working for the family business, I feel the need to make a difference, and I think that teaching is the profession that will allow me to do so, one student at a time.

You certainly can. But to be most effective, I think you should have a good knowledge of the psychology of children. I think it's important to know which kid is shy, which kid is a bully, etc., and the possible reasons why. Then you can treat them appropriately. And keep in mind that you may also be the brightest star in this young person's life, so you must strive for mutual respect.

Nice thought but I hope that Teacher does not show how most teachers are by displaying themselves as " I am better than you".

Yes, I do believe that teachers do change lives of those they can "touch". It is a wonderful gift that most teachers possess.
