I'd ask her what specific reasons she has for you not being able to get a hamster. Go about it as mature as you can. If the reason is because your room is messy then clean your room and keep it clean without complaining. If its some other reason (like hamsters are dirty or some reason like that) do research that proves her wrong. If the reason is something that you can change do it, and if she lets you get a hamster, dont revert back to the way things were prove that you can be responsible and take care of things (like keeping your room clean, keeping the cage clean).

When a child wants to buy a pet, the parent is _always_ concerned about whether or not the child will be responsible. So your first task is: show by example that you will be responsible. That should start with you cleaning up your room;)
Owning a pet means a lot more than just enjoying a cute pet. After all, the hamster won't seem so cute the first time it gets out of its cage and makes trouble all over the house. Nor if it gets sick.
Some kids even tire of their cute pet when they have to take care of it, feeding and swatering it day after day.
So now do you know what you are up against? Show responsibility, starting with your room;)

Do some research on why hamsters make good pets, and what it involves to keep a hamster healthy and happy. Check cost to set up a home for it and, how much feed and bedding well be. If you show your mom that you know how to be a responsible hamster owner and are willing to take on the extra chore to take care of it, she may realize how serious you are.
And just my own opinion check info on pet rats too. I have had hamsters and rats. I think rats are a whole lot more fun. I got two now.

First ask yourself if you are responsible for the things that you have. Then, ask yourself are you ready to care for a pet, it is good idea to do some research on the type of pet you want and the proper care for it. If you still want the pet and feel that you are able to care for the pet properly then it is time you began showing responsibility for your room and for yourself. Actions speak louder than words do. Once you have shown your mom that you are becoming a responsible young lady, ask her if you can have a hamster and let her know that you understand how to care for the animal and that you are ready to do that. It may also help if you save some of your allowance so you can purchase all the items needed to make your new pet comfortable (food, cedar chips, water bottle, a home, toys etc.)

First of all clean your room!
then show her that you are responsible enough to handle a pet. A bad thing about the basement is that if it escapes will you be able to find it? My two hamsters died because they escaped and they got beat up by rats or something. Just don't be too annoying because then for sure you won't get one.

Well you wouldn't want to keep your pet hamster in a basement would you ??!! I wouldn't, you would keep it in your room, so clean up your room first then ask her and tell her you will clean after it and feed it and everything ! Let her know she wouldn't have to do any of the work of taking care of it and that it would be a good learning experience for you, so you can learn to take care of animals !!! Ask her what would it hurt to have one little hams. in your room ? as long as you are responsible for it at all times !

I had always wanted a hamster, but my mom would always say no. Finally i saved up all the money that i would need to buy the supplies and the hamster. Finally she gave in and said yes, but i had to buy everything. I had that hamster for about 1 and a half years, but then my cat ate it....... Then i got another one and i still have him today. hes about 2 years old now.

ask your mom why she won't let you have one.....if it is cause of your room make a deal....keep your room clean for a couple of weeks (2-3) and then see if she will let you have one....you might want to clean your room anyway if your asking for something....the happier you mom is that your helping out and doing things with out being asked than the more likely she is to say yes....plus do you really want to keep it in the basement?????
