Having one true friend that will last a lifetime, or having many that don't last long?

I have many true friends, and I hope they all last a lifetime, but I do think one true friend is better than having many that doesn't last long. I'm hoping I can count on you to be one that lasts a lifetime.

Best friends??? I don't know about best friends, I understand about friends and aquintances, but best friends that will last a lifetime, not sure I have ever had close to such a thing. They can usually be bought, traded, and sold and some can't? Some people are ??? there because they need to be, want to be, want you to be?
I have been betrayed by some that I thought were best friends and I can't say that it doesn't hurt and I guess to be truthful I have betrayed others in time. I don't know?
As one friend brought out at a conference we are meant to be where we are, who we are, and what we are when we are together and that is all that is meant. If we are not together then we are still meant to be where we are, who we are, and what we are alone.
I don't know, but first hadn't we really all better define what a friend is and what is expected out of a friend and how that should work?
Sometimes strangers make better friends in some ways I think and sometimes it takes us having some close friends too.
I don't know, I never thought that some of those who are my friends and some of my best friends would be my friends, but they came into my life and even when I try hard to get rid of them they still love me as a friend and for who I am and that puts a smile on my face that is for sure.
So what do we do? I don't know?

It depends on your interest for the friendship.You may make a good friend to someone because there is some short term targets you want to realise with him/her.Whan the target is done,the frienship dies off.
I feel then that a true friend for a life time is better but it also depends on how much youre late with each other that the friendship can taste a lifetime.
