i like it better with two b's, this way if you want to shorten it to Abby you don't have to add a b

Well it's not the common spelling, but you have to keep in mind that your mom had the chance to look over the birth certificate to make sure everything was correct before submitting it.
You should ask her if she purposely spelled your name that way or if it's a mistake on your birth certificate.

People spell there names differently. The way it's usually spelled is Abigail. Some people misspell on purpose so their name is unique.

No, it's all up to the individual how a name is spelled. My name is spelled Nichole and some people say it's wrong, but I love it spelled that way and to me it's the right way!!!

I personally don't believe there's one right way to spell any name. The traditional form is Abigail with the nickname Abbi/Abby. So, I don't think it makes much difference, does it? If you really don't like it, change it.

People sometimes break tradition when spelling their childs name. My middle name is Mechelle (spelled Me instead of Mi as is the norm). If it worries you, you can always ask you mom if it was mispelled.

It doesn't change the way you pronounce your name as it still sounds the same - just a different spelling.
