Have you asked him where he was born? If not in the US, ask is he a citizen? Or does he have documents? Many illegals are quite open about this because it is so common, and nobody does anything about it unless they commit a crime.
I don't know of any way to know for sure; it can be hard even for the authorities. A lot of illegals have fake documents.
But if he works for cash or with no income tax deductions, this could be a clue; although there are other reasons a person might do this.

Its really sad and a low point in a mothers life when she has to interfere with her daughters boyfriend just because she doesnt like where he/she is from. SAD.

go to customs or the police. They're not going to narc you out to your daughter. You can go annonymously if you want, but it wouldn't be necessary.
