I wouldn't if it were in my tank. Allow it to break the surface and it will open. You can then use a Q-tip to gently rub the flower a bit for a day or two to help insure pollination. If you make sure the flower is positioned over the tank, the seeds can then drop back in and will sprout. It's quite cool to see a few dozen baby apons sprouting in your tank.

Cool,what kind of Aponogeton is it? I'd try to let it flower,to see if it will produce seeds. Doing that might force it into dormancy,but you should be able to keep the bulb(or tuber or what ever it's called) until it's ready to grow again.

YES!!! The flower is quite pretty, but they die really fast and begin to rot and turn your tank all dirty. Also, rotting organics can cause an ammonia spike!

But if you really want to, its kind of cool to see them make seeds and make more plants, but I don't think its worth it.
