I was in college (freshman I think) when American Beauty came out. I was kind of messed up at the time... just not being very good to myself. So anyway I saw the movie and it was so true. The movie made me realize life really is good--- and sometimes it's the hard parts, the parts that hurt the most, that make it so good. It really did change my life! I think it kind of mended my relationship with my dad in a way. Good movie.

Shindler's List. Other films about the Holocaust were
focused only on the autrocities committed and Hitler,
but this film explored the existence of compassion from
the German side and those brave enough to help save
some of those destined for the camps. I found it to pull
out depths of compassion I never knew I had because
of the way the whole film was written. There's a scene
at the end, where real survivors walk over a hill, and
this particular scene opened all my closed doors. I'll
never forget it.

Yes. There is an older movie called "Defending your Life" with Meryl Streep and Albert Brooks. This movie is about a guy who is just driving down the road and one day gets in a car accident then unexpectedly dies. In a kind of purgatory he's called upon to defend his life. To do so he must recall instances in his life where he used his mind to its utmost and instances where he did not. He was shown where fear held him back in key moments of his life and lowered his quality of life. The main thing I got from this movie is how we handle fear determines what type of life we will have. Whether it is fear of speaking in front of others, fear of driving or fear of falling in love, how we handle this fear determines whether or not we miss the opportunities life provides. Sorry this was so long!

Apocalypse Now.
It changed my life by showing me how much a movie can SUCK. It is a disgrace to all war movies.
I had written something a lot more detailed but I accidentally erased it.

Yes, The movie is called "Homeless To Harvard". It gave me courage to know that I am not the only one out there having a hard time in this world. It gave me hope, to know that I can face any obstacle that comes my way. I should never give up, not in anything. :)

Shirley Valentine taught me that even if we have put all our dreams on hold for other people or for a career, it is never too late to revisit these dreams and throw caution to the wind and LIVE for a change. Do something just for yourself
