I have a remote start on car (no accidental shifting, door locks, etc). Car will have A/C on, car will be monitored (remote start tells me whether it is on or off). Car will sit for about an hour. I know this uses almost no gas, but is it safe for dog (carbon monoxide, etc).

As I said, I can monitor on the keytag, if the engine fails.

As long as the monitor is working the A/C should keep the passenger compartment comfortable enough for your pet. I would also make sure there was water easily available for your pet.

To prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, make sure the car is parked in an area that is well ventelated. Carbon monoxide poisoning is caused when a vehicle is left running in an enclosed area such as an enclosed garage. As long as the area is well ventelated you shouldn't have a carbon monoxide problem.

Why can't you leave the dog at home? I think he would be happier than being trapped in an enclosed vehicle.

I really wouldn't think so. While the car is sitting idling the ac will not cool real good and it can overheat and the carbon monoxide
can get back in the car. Which you know is bad for any animal.

It isn't exactly humane, or legal. What of the car breaks down or the remote start fails? Have someone board the pooch for an hour. It'll be cheaper than an animal cruelty citation.

well yeah the dog will be fine long as the a/c is working, but why are you letting the car idle for an hour, yes it uses some gas,but what your really hurting is the catalytic convertor in your exhaust system.the excess heat from prolonged idling like that will cook it to an early death.
