If a cat has a blood test at the vet's office, will the results usually come in that same day, or does the vet send the blood off somewhere and it takes days to get an answer

Some vets have the blood testing equipment in the office and can produce results while you wait, some must send it away though for most tests this will be a overnight only. Occasionally the courier to the lab will leave before the last appt so those results may spill into the next day, if you know you will need blood work ask to scedule in time to get it out that day.
Be aware a few special tests can be longer (even months).

It depends on the test and if the vet has in house lab, or sends it out to an outside lab. If the vet has in house lab, results will be that day. Outside lab can take up to 3 days.
