Please do keep in mind that if an agency asks for money upfront, it is a scam! And modeling is supposed to be very hard work and one can see that just by watching America's Next Top Model having to act and perform in front of the camera and when one doesn't feel well or is not in such a great mood. Wearing fur coats in the summertime and bathing suits or lingerie in the wintertime. It's really not an easy job and is a lot more than just having pretty facial features and a nice figure. And most people that aspire to have modeling as a career get heartbroken when they receive so many rejections due to there being so much competition.

Models usually have to go off and live in "model apartments" when they first start out. The apartments are sometimes is a foreign country...and usualyl no family or friends go... so you can get lonely. Also a lot of modeling agencies will turn you down, so don't get all excited and then get your hopes down.
Of course there is a glamorous side to modeling ,with pictures and runways, but thats usually when you make it big. And you might want to start of wit ha small agency and then later on move up to a big one. Some major agencies are Ford, IMG, and Elite.
Good luck =)
Oh and age doesn't really matter, but the younger the better. Some agencies won't take you when your older.
And try to get into modeling classes like walking and posing for pictures.
And watch America's next Top Model.

You need to find a modeling agency. The agency will tell you what to do. You probably will end up spending hundreds of dollars in your parents money on things like head shots. They may tell you to take courses on modeling...who knows how much that will cost. You need to be careful because those people want your money. try to have your parents do some background checks on some agencies to see who is legit and who will try to rob you. if you do get some jobs, you may start out modeling for wal-mart before doing anything super glamorous. take what you can get so you can build up a portfolio. step 1. talk to someone at an agency. they will give you advice for what to do next. disadvantage...COMPETITION. that's a cut throat career, girl.

You are not to young to start. Chanel Iman is doing her thing and she started at 14. The previous advice was good from other member about joining and volunteering. ** stay away from agency scams as thet often just try to get money out of people for photots that will not get you where you need to be at all........ Join some model forums online and ask a ton( I MEAN A TON OF QUESTIONS) hey watching ANTM won't hurt either....

my friend went to a modeling place and models came in talking about experiences and they said you are pretty much never at school. if you want to go for it, but education is very important.

Why not see if you can find work first--try volunteering at the malls to the stores--every spring they have fashion shows to show off their newest clothes.

As well, take some classes to learn how to walk, dress, etc.--if you need your parents to be convinced--tell them that it will help your confidence--because it will.
