When my Mom first came to live with me, we used Public Storage to put all of her furniture because I already had furniture. Besides, I was living in an apartment. When I purchased a home, we were able to use her furniture and even though she has passed (2001) I still maintain her furniture.

I have all of my furniture and household items in public storage now. I have been renting this storage room for a little over a year now. Some places are dirty and have bugs that get into your stuff. But the storage place I'm renting from is very clean and is literally 2 minutes away from where I live now.

Yes, I've had a public storage unit for the past 8 years.

I've used and lost to public storage more than once, then I ended up working for those companies. You need to be real careful on how and when you pay. It was not the best experience in my life, (sorry to say).

The company I worked for didn't do background checks on these 2 employees and they were children abusers in another state. Also it took them 6 weeks to get my paycheck. So yes these companies can really suck.

Yes, I had one in Salt Lake City for over 10 years, because I had moved to Nevada and put everything in storage, and never got the time to go get it out, so my brother that lives there did. It was a very secure storage unit, with cameras, flood lights all over the place, a 10 foot fence around it and a gate that you had to use a password to get in, plus you put your own locks on your unit, and the manager lived on the premises.
Very secure.

No, I never needed it but there are alot of people when moving
or downsizing their homes need it. All the places where I live
have their own rules about when you can get into your storage
area, and the types of things that can or can't be stored.
I notice in the papers that when people owe those companies
money , every so often you see a list of peoples property being sold as lots by these storage companies.

Yes, but nothing really fun or exciting. My mom was moving about two hundred miles away and needed to store some furniture. I rented a storage facility for her to place some of her larger belongings in for a few months. It worked out really well. I actually kept the unit and used it for personal use for the remainder of the six month contract.

Yes. In 2004, my family was impacted by both hurricanes Frances and Jeanne; we lost our apartment but most of our belongings escaped damage. We ended up living with some friends for six months afterwards and while we were living with them, we had our things in storage across town. Needless to say, we were lucky to find a storage unit at all. We live a few miles north of where the eyes of both of those storms hit. It was a pretty amazing and humbling experience :)

DO NOT USE PUBLIC STORAGE!!!!!!!!! They are crooks and criminals and rob innocent people!!!! They have no right to steal peoples personal belongings and sell them at auctions. They 100% steal your stuff and claim you didnt pay even when you have the reciept they say its not in thier system and even if you didnt pay and miss one payment by one day they will auction your stuff 10 days later without telling you or making any attempt to tell you. They will tell you its your fault for missing payment by 10 days and even a reciept from them and a bank statement showing you paid them on time doesnt mean anything to them and they say well its done cant do anything now. My aunt committed suicide after finding out what they did. She was late for payment by 9 days and informed them she would be a little late and they reassured her "thats no problem at all" and then 3 days later auctioned her stuff when she came with the payment when she said she would thats when she found out. She went to talk to the person she had talked to and that peson said its not thier fault she was late with the payment and she should be more responsible with her bills!! 9 days! 9 days behind and they took everything she had in her whole life from her.
