How can anyone help you through the internet? No one can press a button that will give you the self confidence to go make new friends. If these "mean kids" populate the school, then it's either join their ranks or stick to being a loner. It's really up to you to get the gumption to go talk to people--it's not that hard, I'm sure they won't shoot you for talking to them.

What elective are you taking? I started a new school and all of my friends went to different schools and I made my group of friends that I still hang out with now(I made them three years ago) from band. I made friends with a percussionins then I ate lunch with her and her friends, and now we are just a huge group. I know how you feel!!! Its like a little fish being all caught up in a pool of sharks!! People are going to be mean to me when I go back to school (no clue when) because yesterday morning I got me leg amputated. My parents are being really supportive because they are doing the home care thing and I dont have to stay in the hospital. Yay!!! No more gross food. lol ya... people are gonna be mean and make fun of me but I am just gonna take it all in and let it pass right through. Just try to be friendly, what ever doesnt kill you will only make you stronger!! haha like my stupid leg. oh well we are just getting back from a two week break and I know someone is gonna ask "so kara what did you do over the break" (while staring at what used to be my leg) " o hey george I got my leg amputated can't you tell?? what did you do? I am sure not something as fun as i did" lol i am gonna make them look so stupid and feel so dumb. why do people have to give other people with dissabilities special treatment? I can see opening the door and all but you know what I mean right?? I dont want to sound hostile or anything but come on we are people that actually can function. in the words of the dad from little people big world..."we can do everything a normal person can do, but we only do it in a different way!!" good luck on finding new friends, we can struggle together. i am only 14 so this is hard for me. E-mail me for any other ?'s!! good luck

Well from what you said the people don't seem very nice. But if you want to make friends try sitting with some kids at the lunch table and strike up a conversation. Or if that doesn't work join a club that seems cool to you. You might meet kids from older grades even!
Good Luck at your new school!

Try joining some clubs or sports that you are interested in. Chances are, the people in these groups will be similar to you, and you'll already have one thing in common! People always seem hostile at first, especially when you are the one that is new to the situation. Give it a chance and go out of your way to be friendly towards the other people. If you seem like you don't want to get to know them, they probably won't want to get to know you either.

It is always difficult when you enter a new school. I did the same thing in 7th grade. Learn to act friendly and smile a lot. You will meet and make new friends. Just give it time. Good luck.

just be you: pursue your own interests and have fun while you're there. as for the bullies, when they bully you, thank them; don't try and ignore them.
