I work with the public and although we are separated by a glass partition, I pass paperwork back and forth under the window. Aside from the fact that I look like I've been crying uncontrollably for a week, I wonder about the health factor for the public. If I am just passing paperwork back and forth is it still contagious?

do a yahoo search: How can I prevent the spread of pink eye?

Infectious forms of pink eye are highly contagious and are spread by direct contact with infected persons. If you or your child has infectious pink eye, avoid touching the eye area and wash your hands frequently, particularly after applying medications to the eye area. Never share towels or handkerchiefs and throw away tissues after each use. Disinfecting surfaces like countertops, sinks, and doorknobs can also help prevent the spread of infectious pink eye.

No. No. No. Pink Eye (conjunctivitis) is extremely contagious. The bacteria is easily passed on paperwork, etc. that has been touched by an infected person. Please take a few days off, and see your doctor to get some antibiotics to clear this up, if you haven't already. Do not work, please. If your employer finds out, they will most likely send you home, anyway.

NO!!!!!!!!!!! Conjunctivitis is VERY contagious! You need to see a doctor, get medication and stay home until the infection clears up!! You can still give it to people because you may have the infection on your hands, which will then transfer to the paperwork, which will then transfet to the hands of the other person, who may touch their face or someone else, and they will all end up getting it!!

No, it's not. If you touch anything and pass what you touched to another person, it can be easily transmitted. I had a relative come to visit me and she had pink eye. She had slept on one of my pillows and because I had others that looked exactly like it, I wasn't aware that I was sleeping on the same one she had slept on the next night. I ended up with pink eye just from sleeping on the same pillow. I also remember in elementary school that when one of my class mates developed pink eye, they were sent home and my teacher sprayed the door knobs and other surfaces with Lysol. So, it's very communicable... extremely contagious.

Yes, its still contagious. I work in a school and our health manager says that everything you touch after touching a pink eye has to be washed and you can't go to work or school until its gone. Go see a doctor to get medicated drops.

As long as you work with the public you must not contaminate others, so by law you must first get the help you need or let time heal you-if not you could lose your job...due to the fact you new it was contagious but you deliberately went anyway...

It's very contagious...if you rub your yes and go to the bathroom, touch anything even if you are careful...I would stay at home if I were you, and if you can spare a sick day. Plus, it will be good for you!
