Since we are best friends and we will be forever, here's my answer:
You get an empty feeling because you may be doing something that could be wrong for you. Then you try to fill that void and nothing works. Or maybe you took something out of your life and you seriously need it back.
I suggest you take a little you time, get in touch with yourself. Or take time with some of your good friends who know you best. You'll figure out what you need.

Yes I feel that way often too. I was told that what I really needed was a relationship with God and a better one with myself but no matter what I did, this feeling lasts. It feels worse after a rejection but it is always in the background. I think most people if they are honest will identify with you too but I don't know what causes it. Hope you feel better soon.

I got that feeling a lot when I was single and didn't really feel that I "belonged" anywhere or to anyone. But since I got happily married, I never felt that way since.

Maybe you need somebody out there for you- a loved one to care about you and make you feel better.
Somebody who can see what you can.
Who feels how you feel.
Who knows what you know.
Who can understand you and you can understand.
