I believe there is a lot of discrimination (age&sex).
I am a 52 year old male trying to find a teaching position. I graduated on August 4, 2006. I am very frustrated and begining to think that I waisted 4 years and thousands of dollars.

Of course this type of discrimination goes on behind closed doors and is extremely difficult to prove.

I hope your lack of spelling skills does not prevent you from securing employment:

begining = beginning

waisted = wasted

Good Luck....

yes, absolutely. ordinarily i would say it's because they have to pay you more, but in your case...you would be making the same as a beginning teacher.

being a male, i think this really improves your chances. what i would start doing...each time you leave an interview, request via email, or hand written card, some suggestions for improvements. areas they feel you are weak in. for one...this shows them that you are on to them....you want to hold them accountable. you NEED to know why you didn't get the job. it may force them to realize they have no good reason for not hiring you...and of course they can't use your age as an excuse or you could sue right then and there.

if age is NOT the issue, doing this will provide you some valuable feedback, which could improve your next interview!!
