CONTINUED... can vote for american idol as many times as you want, but can only vote for the president once?

You have no idea how many people vote on American Idol!
Just because they give you a number, don't take it as gospel.
It's like a laugh track, if they can make you believe everybody is voting you are more likely to vote.
They may tell the truth of course in which case I apologize for being cynical

That may be ONE reason...
Another is that there are no true EFFECTS from voting for Idol...
For American Idol, you don't need to be of legal age, you don't have to read, study or think... just pick up the phone and dial.

Plus a very LARGE number of voters for the Idol are well under 18

I do not agree.I think they get more votes because people can set on their butt and pick up a phone. Too lazy to get in a car and go vote for ones future president.

I agree with you. There are also a number of other reason A.I. gets more votes. It is seen in other countries and the singers are good. You don't have to choose between the best of two EVILS. lol

Not sure about that. I don't know if they count every vote or just one vote from each telephone number to tally that up. Never heard it really explained in detail, and that's the key.
