Depends. Do you have a painted turtle or red eared slider? It is nearly impossible to tell when they are small. When they get to about 5 inches, the males front claws grow long and the tail is usually a bit longer. The nails are a dead give away though.

ok i don't know age or species so this will be very general. males tend to have longer front claws. the older the trutle the longer the claws. also the tail is longer and the Cloaca (Opening under the tail through which the turtle performs fecal, urinary, and reproductive functions) is further out on the tail.
whereas females have shorter claws, shorter tails and the cloaca is closer to the body.
also females because they lay eggs grow to be larger than the males.

It really depends on the kind of turtle and how old it is. I'd need at least a good description of how big it is and what it looks like (so I can figure out what kind of turtle it is) to be able to answer your question very accurately.

You can tell by looking at their poo holes. Females don't come out on their tails as far as males do. Another way to tell is that males are smaller than females and have longer nails than females.

epidermis laying off is primary, as long because it is not in extra. in the adventure that your turtle is laying off too much epidermis, it ought to propose one in each and every of two issues: the two the water is in simple terms too heat (would desire to be saved between seventy 8-80 two stages, i've got faith), or your turtle is being fed too plenty protein. attempt feeding him extra vegetables which contain collard vegetables, candy potato and carrots. solid success!
