I have a 1995 nissan 200sx manual transmission. Ive noticed that usually in 1st and 2nd when it reaches about 3000 rpm it makes a grinding type sound. This usually happens in the morning or when i first drive the car for the day. Is this going to cause any major damage to my transmission??

You should have that checked out. It could be as simple as needing a fluid change (manual transmissions don't need them often... but they do need them!) or it could be a synchro going bad. Either way, grinding isn't a good sound

Have you ever topped up the transmission fluid in the case? You may be out of fluid and what you're hearing grinding is the last of the gears.

It may not be too late to save it. If you're mechanically inclined, you can find the fill hole on the side of the transmission much like the plug for the oil. You remove the plug, put your finger inside and see if you can feel any oil. You should be careful for sharp edges. You can do the same thing for the rear axle.

Look in your owner's manual, it should tell you what grade of oil or type of oil to use in your transmission. Try putting in a couple of quarts and see if that solves the problem. It's possible this is all it needs.

Yeah, you probable pick new brakes!! additionally, you will probable pick new rotors at this factor. That grinding sound might desire to be the steel on the interior the brake pad grinding away the rotor. that's what happens once you wait too long to alter the pads. Will probably run you approximately $a hundred-$two hundred each and each, reckoning on the vehicle youcontinual.

could be low on fluids or your filter might be glogging up check on that old of a car it probably wouldn't hurt to get a new filter put in and to[p off with fluid.
