Because there is a very thin, sometimes invisible line between being and not being racist.
For example
-If you treat with respect, and honour other cultures...but prefer that your children marry within your religion, and or race. Are you a racialist?
-If you find yourself walking past a rowdy group of black men, and feel a sense of danger. Are you a racialist?
-If you consider certain religions too extreme and prefer not to associate with members following them. Are you a racialist?
-If you tend to find girls/boys of your own race more attractive, even though you treat everybody respectfully. Are you a racialist?
-If you treat people of another race with politeness and respect, but personally find them far too different and strange looking and prefer to keep your distance. Are you a racialist?
Racism is not always obvious. And strangely enough, sometimes not even to ourselves.

I'm not sure what you are getting at but racism is not necessarily black and white-no pun intended. There are absolutely shades of gray. We all have bias and sometimes what motivates that bias tends to make us think whether or not we could be racist. I think this self-analysis is a good thing. Broad generalities are made about cultures and there are aspects of everyones cultures that people don't like. Is that racism. Most people today are beyond color but once in a while all of say or think something that causes a pause, a moment a question about whether or not that is racist and then we ask. This is how I feel do you think I'm being racist.

I find it pretty hard to sort it out in my own mind. I mean I dislike mostly just people of my own race but there are people of other races that I also can't stand. I have friends from different races so I guess I am not a racist...but I sure was exposed to it heavily while growing up. I tend to live by this one simple rule when it comes to getting along:
If you like me I think I am going to like you too.
But...
If you do not like me just because I am not of the same race as you are... Then I think I am going to have to not like you also
.

I think people are going to disagree with what I say and likely send me hate mail BUT I am going to voice my opinion here.
I think everyone is racist to a certain extent. Everyone makes racist comments when someone cuts them off when driving if the person is of a different race, or if someone looks at them wrong, etc etc.... It's human nature to look down on someone who is different.
I'm admitting that yes I can have my racist moments. They're brought out with anger or disapproval. They're bad moods and judgments.
Why do others have to prove to others they're not racist? I personally think it's because racism is unacceptable and they don't want to be the bad guy so they say they're not racist and try very hard to make others believe them- which to me just proves that they really are racist....

There is good and bad in every race. I like the good ones and don't like the bad ones in each race. When I vent it is about the bad people of the race. It doesn't mean I am racist. It just means the bad people tork me off. It has nothing to do with race.

i think some people who are racist actually believe that they are not i think they have racist views but because its not socially acceptable to air them they try to deny them to the point that they really believe they are not but then that says a lot about their character i guess.

I can't stand how people try to claim that even a little racism is apart of human nature; but really I believe that it's been imbedded in our brains

Maybe this is because one person is biased about how they feel, and may need a neutral party to decide for them.
