Sorry to burst your bubble, but a 1790 SAT is not at all a sure thing for top tier schools. It's basically a 600 on each of the three components and the middle 50% of freshman applicants at these schools range from 650 - 750s on Math and Verbal. That's not to say that you can't get into a perfectly fine/good college, though. What level of school you end up in depends on a lot more info than you've provided here, including:
* Rigor of course load (APs? Honors? Highest level you can take?)
* Extracurriculars, sports, community service
* Quality of the recommendation letters you'll have
* Ethnic/geographic "diversity" factor -- could make you more appealing to some schools
* The interest you've shown in the school...e.g. visits, tours, requests for literature
* Whether you apply early decision or not (assuming it's available at you targetted schools)...
* SAT Subject Tests needed at some schools...check that out, as well.
Separately...you may want to consider taking the SATs again, see if you can boost your scores a bit. Prep more for them.
Wherever you wind up, best of luck to you.

Don't be too cocky. You may be smart but colleges are looking for people who are not simply brains. In university... everything is relative... My friends who had superb grades in HS had trouble with the first year of uni. You need things people have already said however... you need work experience as well. My college buddies who are older and have jobs as house builders are doing a good job than other people because they have experience and know what to do in the architecture degree. My best advise is that you get a crash course on what your major is going to be so that you have a good understanding how hard it is going to be in university.
Grades are nothing but a sign of what you can do. Just like work... the employers want to see what you can do.
Congrats on your GPA and SAT though but you need more than grades to survive uni.

it depends on your definition of good. Your GPA could get you anywhere but i am not sure about your SAT score. here check out this chart which would compare your score to the requirements.

btw do you have any extracirriculars. you need more than grades. you should join a sport, learn an instrument, join a club (starting one looks even better). There are so many things that could determine but anyway good luck getting in to your choice college.

If that's all you have going for you, then no. Top colleges are filled with people with grades and SAT scores as good as yours. Colleges also want to see real involvement in extracurriculars. An activity or two which show real dedication is preferred to a laundry list.
Colleges want well-rounded people.

If you are a junior now, don't catch a case of Senioritis when you get to 12th grade. I have heard a lot of prestigious schools turn down applications of students who did well their first 3 years of high school and played around their senior year.

Your GPA is pretty awesome but not your SAT score. What DO you consider to be good colleges? My advice is to get better SAT scores, around 2100 +.

sure! I'm sure all colleges that are good or above-average will take you!
If you want a top tier university like Harvard, Princeton, Yale, etc., you will have to have plenty of other things to set you apart
But other than that I think with those two things you are a shoe in at 75% of all universities.

There's a slight chance...I'm just kidding. With those credentials, you should be able to walk onto most campuses demanding a full scholarship or you'll take your brainy *** elsewhere.
P.S. Keep up the good work.
