I enjoyed both as a former stage-hand for an illusionist...
However, I liked the movie "The Illustionist" the best: it was a terrific storyline, and the ending was spectacular.
"The Prestige" was better on the illusions... but the "tesla-machine" was abit too much for me to accept.

I loved them both but The Prestige was so much better. For one, in The Prestige, they give away their secrets and reveal how most of the tricks are done, The Illusionist doesn't do this at all. I know a lot of people don't like how the Tesla machine actually works and makes the clone, but how does Norton's character create his illusions? He must have real powers, right?
Prestige had a bigger cast, although Ed Norton is my favorite actor, he was the only stand-out actor, while Prestige had Jackman, Bale, Johansson, Caine and even Piper Perabo and David Bowie.
I don't understand how you couldn't love both of these movies, but in my opinion, Prestige was a lot better and more memorable.

They were both good. The Illusionist was better becuase there was no magic machine. Although I do have a schizo friend who thinks that alchemy is real and now he thinks that the Prestige is a secret message to other underground alchemists.

the status. illusionist substitute into super, in spite of the undeniable fact that it substitute into predictable. by some ability the tricks interior the illusionist have been too unrealistic. making lifeless people come back as ghosts? the tricks interior the status by some ability made the viewer have faith that they've been authentic. they have been defined each and all of the time. additionally, the twists interior the status's tale have been exceptionally unpredictable while in comparison with the illusionist.
