Online for candidates? For State.Federal. County. Level Political Campaigns?
Would Americans be able to change things if we could all vote like we do here at YA?

I mean literally: to be able to cast a legal vote ONLINE. Not just playing like everyone does here.

There's pros and ons.
On the one hand, I like the idea of using the internet for voting. Not only might it increase participation/awareness, it could go much further. You could use the Internet to increase voter's roles by expanding referendums, public hearings, petitions, etc.

The cons:
SECURITY. To do this, the system HAS to be secure--and I doubt very many people are that sure of the security systems available. Also--it has to be a high-integrety system (that is, so unethical types cant monkey with the results).

The other possible drawback is the flip side of the advantage of speed and ease of participation. Too often, people go off half-******. The reality is that we often need to sit back and take time to think things through, not make a hasty decision or simply react without thinking. The use of the Internet might encourage snap decisions--something we already have far too much of.

I don't think being able to vote online would change the amount of votes you get. I think if people don't care enough to get out of the house for the 5 minutes it takes to cast your vote on election day, they probably wouldn't be more motivated to do it on here.

And i think if a person is that lazy and ignorant to not go to the polls on election day then they shouldn't even be allowed to vote! If they are really that lazy they can get an "absentee ballot" mailed to them weeks before and mail it back. The furthest they need to go then is to the mail box. Of course they might have to go twice, so this might screw things up further.

I can vote, I just choose not to. If the ******* seemed like theyd listen when I tell them to do something then I'd take part in their little show.
