unions use to be one of the things that a worker could depend on for every thing .. now unions work more for the goverment than for the common working men. ask a union offical who john l lewis was and they'll tell you they don't know. i'm a union member for 25 years and in the fight.

Extortion is illegal and unions committing this irregularity must be dismantled so that the employers will be free of harassment.

there are good unions and bad unions. having worked for like companies with and without union connection, i would opt for the unionized company any time.
but you are right, they can turn on you, they can rob you of your money with no return on your dollar and they can be very deceitful.
i have had my own union nightmare and can attest to their corruption first hand.
but compared to the low wages and lack of benefits i received while working for those un-unionized companies, i would still vote union every time.
large corporations that elect to pay substandard wages and deny appropriate benefits remain the larger thieves and the prevalent problem among our workforce.
there's need to be stronger regulations regarding unions and a better system for retaliation of unfair treatment, that's all.
i remain pro-union.
