I would not trust your temperature gauge! A faulty sending unit or gauge can give you a false reading. You definitely have a cooling system problem, and it needs to be fixed before you do some major damage. The noise you describe is most likely the sound of boiling water and/or coolant. This most often happens from a faulty thermostat (stuck open or stuck closed), or no thermostat at all. (Some people actually remove them, thinking they are not needed!) If the thermostat were stuck closed, this would cause the coolant to boil in the engine. And; if your gauge sending unit is mounted on the radiator, this would explain why it doesn't show overheating. The water in the radiator doesn't get too hot. Hopefully, all you need is a new thermostat which is cheap and easy to fix.

The list of parts known to rust, and leak coolant on 1993 Ford Taurus' are as follows: heater hose by-pass tubes, radiator itself. There are no metal lines under the radiator of a 1993 Taurus, other than transmission lines, which doesn't carry coolant.

Air. Your engine is probably overheating, but the coolant level is so low it's dropping below the sensor, so the gauge doesn't register it. If the coolant isn't low you could be blowing exhaust into the water jacket through a blown head gasket.

first off your coolant level is low, thats whats making the gurgle. im assuming the "smoke" is white, which if this is so would mean you have a bad hose.probaly a bad thermostat too.id check for a bad hose first an replace it.while at it replace the thermostat.after those 2 are completed refill the coolant, theres a premix availible that ya just pour in

Sounds as though it may be overheating even though your thermous gauge is is not indicating this, this could be a themostat problem, the fan may not be coming on as it should,if smoke is happening ---STOP the engine before you blow the engine up , believe you me ,. this knowledge comes from my own experience's ,

Your thermostat may not be working and your car is overheating. Get it checked out asap or you will crack the block if it continues to overheat if it hasn't already
did you check the water level in the rad?
