Hopkins is a better actor, Nicholson is a better character. When you watch Hopkins in a role he becomes the character, whereas Nicholson overshadows the character. Hopkins becomes Hannibal Lecter, Nixon, but you can hardly remember the names of the characters played by Nicholson except for Jimmy Hoffa.

I think Jack Nicholson has a more broad range and Hopkins is kind of not like that, but no question they are both very good actors.

Sir Anthony Hopkins !!

All I've seen of Jack Nicholson, though terrific, is one of two characters !! Psycho crazy or bored with you.

Actually just saw "The Shining" last night and was impressed... also alittle saddened that actresses like Shelley Duvall aren't getting parts in movies.

Anthony Hopkins he looks like my husband and I also respect Hopkins work as actor, splendid as Hannibal Lecter and so many other parts...
